Our Solutions

Electric Vehicles (EV) Charging Solutions Project

Hugo Pereira - Head Global Marketing & Growth

EV-Box is the international market leader in providing electric vehicle charging stations and related cloud services and it has the largest installed with over 50.000 charging points worldwide.
Our office delivered professional translation services for EV-Box of around 100,000 words using English, German, Dutch and other European languages in the ‘Electric mobility industry.
As part of their expansion strategy in Europe and North America, we had to provide translation and editing services for Installation and User Manuals for different charging station models & software services.
As part of their table of contents, there were different elements:
- Safety regulations
- Product description
- Installation procedures
- Technical specifications
- Declaration of Conformity
One of the challenges was to grasp the terminology of an industry that is developing rapidly in our times.
For example, our client is using technology such as like Smart Charging, Load Balancing and Peak Shaving features.
Their integrated solution for communication between charge points and their central system is OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol).
These technical manuals come with heavy graphics and a complex design layout, so we had to use our DTP team to ensure that the translated text fits the original layout and graphic design.
Every detail is essential in the technical industry, so we had to use a translation technology platform that detects non-conformities in the translation process by comparing source and target segments.
We had to run quality assurance that would keep the consistency of the content, by having the same translation for the same words & expressions and to avoid inconsistencies such as tags & formatting.

Our Process:

Our mission is to continually provide you with professional translation services in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Project Planning

Each project is assigned to one Project Manager (PM) that will be fully responsible from inception to delivery. The PM completes an internal review of the overall scope of your project (source files, industry, timeline, glossary, output delivery, etc.) and based on this mapping report, the PM designs a custom project plan.

Technology

The PM assigns the translation to highly qualified native linguists, according to the type of content and expertise of the translators. We use Memsource as our main CAT tool along with SDL Trados Studio. An important company policy is to work only with native linguists tested on their translation skills and industry specialisations, among 10 other criteria.

Terminology

We develop a terminology based on your needs used as reference for all translators working with your materials. The glossary is essential in ensuring the highest levels of quality and consistency for your content. We continuously update the term base ensuring your translations are up to date with the developments of your content.

Revision

The project then follows a review process carried out by a second, equally qualified, professional editor to ensure a high-quality, error-free translation. After receiving the comments and changes of the second editor, the initial translator reviews and adapts the translation. We also provide full access to clients to get involved during the process of translation, by viewing and leaving comments to linguists in real-time.

Design/DTP

If design and formatting are necessary, the PM forwards the files to the desktop publishing team that designs the entire layout based on your needs. The team checks and aligns the formatting ensuring that the content matches perfectly your original source files.

Quality Assurance

The PM together with the linguists use Xbench and Memsource to ensure a QA and spell check:
✓ Correct fonts have been used
✓ Correction of typos and punctuation
✓ Correction of spelling errors
✓ All the linguistic comments and reviews have been incorporated
✓ Margins, graphics and positioning are correct

Delivery

The PM ensures a timely delivery of the deliverables. The PM makes sure the final files reach you within your deadline and in the format required. You are always kept informed on the work in progress along the entire duration of the project.

Client feedback

The PM then follows-up with you to validate the deliverables and sends the updated Terminology and Translation Memories produced. We always value client feedback as we strive for excellence.
